Daily routine
A typical day at Little Honeybees
Every day is different — shaped by the children's interests and the weather — but our warm, consistent routine helps children feel safe, settled and ready to learn.
Our daily rhythm
We follow a flexible but consistent daily rhythm. Children thrive with predictable routines, so while activities vary, the shape of the day stays the same.
Arrivals & breakfast
Children arrive and settle in over a relaxed, sociable breakfast together. Children help set the table and we chat about the day ahead.
Morning free flow
Child-led free flow play both inside and out in the garden — children choose their own activities, explore resources and follow their curiosity at their own pace.
Circle time
We come together for circle time — songs, stories, talking about the day, sharing ideas and building our sense of community.
Handwashing & snack
Children wash their hands and enjoy a healthy mid-morning snack together before we get ready to head out.
Getting ready to go out
Wellies on, coats zipped — children help get themselves ready for our outdoor adventure. Building independence one zip at a time.
Lunchtime
A nutritious, home-cooked lunch eaten together. We encourage children to try new foods and enjoy mealtimes as a social occasion.
Outdoor play at the allotment
Our afternoon adventure — digging, planting, harvesting and exploring at the allotment. Fresh air, muddy hands and lots of learning about the natural world.
Home, wash hands & afternoon snack
We head home, wash hands and sit down for a calm afternoon snack together — a chance to rest and refuel after our outdoor time.
Calm play & collections
Quiet, child-led play as the day winds down — puzzles, books, drawing or gentle creative activities. We share the day's highlights with parents at pick-up.
Observations & parent communication
We use an online learning journal to document each child's learning journey. You'll receive regular observations, photos and updates — and you're always welcome to add your own notes from home. We believe in a true partnership with parents, so communication is open, warm and ongoing.
- Regular observations with photos shared via online learning journal
- Two-way communication — parents can add home observations
- Termly progress summaries
- Daily verbal handover at pick-up
- Open-door policy — always happy to chat
